T-shirt available at the Outer Banks Brewing Station on Kill Devil Hills, which claims to be the first wind powered brewery in the US.

The food was decent, but the beers, especially the kolsch, the hefeweizen, and the brown ale (trade name Dragon's Milk) were all excellent. The Dragon's Milk ranks in the top 10 beers i've ever tasted.

Speaking of beer, Daniel Bradford, publisher of All About Beer magazine and director the of the upcoming (and sold out, if rumors are true) World Beer Festival, will be our guest tonight on Shooting the Bull. We'll be talking about his fundraising work for the downtown and Durham Central Park areas and, since it's the last holiday of the summer, i'm sure beer will enter into the discussion. That's 7:30 pm on WDXU, 88.7 FM. Podcast will be available from tomorrow morning on iTunes.

Now, that's what i call dependable

Via August J. Pollack, we learn that residents of the town of Keizer, OR are having some issues over a new pedestrian safety feature. Seems that the stone posts lining one of the town's intersections resemble stone penises.

Of course, the proposed solution may not be any better.

The city is looking into retrofitting the posts with metal collars and chains that run between them, which they hope will change the look.

I think that leather collars will work better, myself. And if they do end up getting rid of the penis pedestrian protectors anyway, maybe we can get a few shipped out here. I know a traffic circle that's looking a little lonely right now.

Today's New York Times has a feature on the recent renovations to the classical galleries at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. It's very Timesian, balancing genuine praise for the work the museum has done bringing its Roman and Greek collections into new prominence with subtle and acerbic putdowns of previous gallery arrangements, as well as the philosphical underpinnings of the movement to restore plundered treasures to their native lands.

And, like all good New York Times web presentations, it's chock full of chewy sidebars, slideshows, and multimedia presentations to help you navigate your way around the subject matter, and focus your attention on the central, important elements under discussion.
