More snowy beach pictures

First two taken at the Atlantis early Saturday morning, the third on highway 70 in Morehead City around 11 or so Saturday morning. Someone knows how to drive a snow plow down east. Mardi Gras pictures below. The band is called the Haw River Rounders; they play out around the Triangle, so keep an eye and ear open for them. The seafood gumbo was as good as it looks, maybe better.

Mardi Gras parade

We had our annual Mardi Gras parade on Saturday, hosted as always by the gracious and talented Richard and Sally. There were a lot of new krewes on hand this year; but as always, balloon animals, kids' floats, and silly hats were the order of the day.

And sazeracs.

As Peter says, the best part of drinking a sazerac is you get to say "sazerac." In your best Satchmo voice.

Here's some pics:

Gloucester Mardi Gras

Many thanks to the good folks at the Gloucester Community Center and the band Unknown Tongues for their hospitality, good music, and great food in celebration of Mardi Gras, albeit a couple of weeks late this year.

Check out that pot of gumbo.

More photos after the jump.

Big mouth!

By the way, we'll be spending the afternoon at the Gloucester Mardi Gras celebration. We stumbled into this party last year, and decided to come back for a second helping. The only thing i can think of is that somehow Gloucester reverted to the Julian calendar sometime in the past 12 months.
