If Johnny Cash were a Durhamite - pt. 2
How low is the water mama?

How low is the water papa?
52 days and fallin'
Well, we're saving every drop that hits the sink
And we can squeeze an extra week or two, I think
It's a good thing we've got all that whiskey to drink

Whiskey is the stuff of life.
Surprisingly, as reported in the N&O's Bull's Eye blog, our fellow Durhamites don't share the sentiment as much...

I lived in Nashville for 7 years and saw the country musicians in their element. I saw Johnny Cash (who I worshipped then and still do) in a Chinese restaurant dressed in a flamboyant yellow shirt that clashed so strongly with his pants that it gave me a headache.
I understood then why he dressed in black for the stage---he was color blind.
And John, I still want to know what "I keep the ends out for the tie that binds" means.

I always heard that line to mean that marriage and commitment are the ties that bind, and keeping the end out means you've entered into the commitment.
