I was happy to be able to catch them play tonight on ESPN; too bad the game didn't go so well. On the bright side, they showed a computer simulation of what CitiField will look like (opening in 2009). It looks like it will be a classy place.
The new park looks pretty nice. It would be a shame if the name "Shea" did not make the transition. Citi Field at Shea Stadium, or something along those lines, is not too unwieldy. William Shea was the man most responsible for bringing National League baseball back to New York after the Dodgers and Giants fled to the west coast, and he should continue to be honored.
On a more personal note, i remember my dad taking me out of school for Opening Day 1964, the first game at Shea Stadium. Willie Stargell hit one of the longest home runs i've ever seen as the Pirates beat the Mets. It would be a great bracket in my life to get to either Shea's last game, or the first one in the new park, but somehow i doubt either of those will happen.
Since 1949, Durhamites have slept soundly, secure in the knowledge that, in our town, erection can be depended upon. Now, thanks to the power of the internets, we can spread that security all over the world.

Being a Bravos fan, I didn't like either team really. However, I was glad that one of them made asses of themselves.

The hardest games for me to have a rooting interest are Braves v Giants, since i hate them both (for completely different reasons.)
Second hardest is Rangers v Astros, since they're both from Texas.
Besides the fact that they're the only team you can watch without taking out a home equity loan around here, what's appealing about the Braves?
