Sky blogging

Hope you got out to look at the moon and Venus together in the western sky tonight. Might be a few years before you get to see that again.

  • Mr. Ragin, you have no idea what a joy it is to see this picture--no surprise, as I already know you have a good eye for the camera.

Durham's Moon may be a bit bluer than some, but at least it can be seen without an orange haze interposing from a few parts of this county!

  • Thanks for posting this picture! It was a beautiful sight and I don't think any of mine came out well.

  • We went out for a walk late this evening and really enjoyed seeing the moon and Venus. Great picture!

  • I've never been one for observing, but I did notice the moon and Venus tonight and thought, "hey, neat!" Thanks for pointing out that it's a rare view.

  • Thanks. Glad you all enjoyed it. Unfortunately, i'd been on the road all day, and didn't really make any arrangements to be somewhere to take any photos when the light might have been really good.

Venus and the moon have been dancing in the western sky all year. Lat night was the closest they've come so far this year. Venus will be in the evening sky for another couple of months, i think. Here's a shot i took at the beach in February during the Chinese New Year.
