Ummm, how about Teh Google?

So this guy shows up in a small Missouri town called Gerald, claiming to be a DEA agent with a tricked out police car and some credentials. He offers to help the locals bust up some drug rings and stuff, and they arrest 17 people over a couple of months.

Turns out the guy was never a cop, and now, after a bunch of town employees, including the police chief, have been fired, those 17 people are suing.

Here's the best part:
"He had credentials. He had a badge. He had a phone number to call for verification," said Gerald Mayor Otis Schulte. "I don't know what else we could have done."

Make that soon-to-be ex-Gerald Mayor Otis Schulte, i would think.

Searching

One quick note before i head away from the computer and into the real world for the rest of the day. I check occasionally on my referral sources for incoming traffic. A bunch of people get here via Google searches. Given the name of the blog, there's aways some interesting search terms that lead here, but for the life of me, i can't figure out how "gianluigi buffon naked" gets someone to this blog.

The world is my closet

A couple of photos from our neighborhood park cleanup today.

I left the boots on the tree. They looked like someone might be back for them sometime.

On the other hand, Luann Young's 1984 Christmas bonus check is in safe hands. If anyone knows Luann, let her know we found the check. Maybe it's still good.

Advantages of growing old

i've aged out of the "potential terrorist" demographic.
By 2014, anyone seeking to board an airplane or enter a federal building would have to present a REAL ID-compliant driver's license, with the notable exception of those more than 50 years old, Homeland Security officials said.

The over-50 exemption was created to give states more time to get everyone new licenses, and officials say the risk of someone in that age group being a terrorist, illegal immigrant or con artist is much less. By 2017, even those over 50 must have a REAL ID-compliant card to board a plane.

It is also depressing to realize i've aged out of the con artist demographic also. I was kinda thinking about exploring that as a post-retirement career.

Is it a miracle?

Mrs. Dependable is not a big fan of greens. In fact, Alton Brown's Mustard Greens Gratin is about the only recipe i've tried that she likes, so i try to make it four or five times a year. I picked up a pretty good size bag of greens over at King's this afternoon, and set to work washing them in the sink.

Fortunately, i recycled all of the water that was left in the sink when i was done, so the image that the dirt made in the bottom of the sink was left undisturbed when they were clean.

Is it a miracle? You be the judge.
