West Coast blogging - Day 2
Sorry for the delay - no access to the internet till now.
Did a little more walking through our temporary neighborhood yesterday.

Seen between our place and the Safeway about a mile away. That's the nearest vendor of weekly MUNI passes, which get us on the bus whenever we want till Sunday.

We took the bus down to the ocean.

A little place on the ocean for breakfast and lunch.

Nice view. Good cheeseburger.
One of my favorite places in the world is the camera obscura behind the Cliff House restaurant.

The camera obscura was built in 1947, and has been run by same family for years. It's basically a dark room, with a lens and mirror arrangement that projects the image of the ocean and the waterfront onto a concave disk. It's one of the most amazing things i've ever seen, and worth the three bucks. All of this area is now part of a national recreation area, including the beach. On the beach, an artist named Thom Ross has a pretty neat installation for the next few days. Inspired by a 1902 photograph of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show taken on the same spot, Thom has recreated in life size each of the figures that appeared in the photo.

If you're so inclined, you can even insert your face into the picture.

Cool signs around the beach area, too.

Finally, we stopped for a beer or two at one of my favorite Irish bars in the world, The Plough and the Stars.

Hopefully, we'll connected earlier tomorrow to fill you in on today's activities. Which also involved beer, beaches, and food.

Nice pictures of a great area.
The Plough and the Stars was my bar-of-choice to celebrate my 21st birthday.
