I mean, I gave John Edwards money on January 29, because he said he was in this for the long haul. He sent a thanks on January 30, a thanks for the support, but he's done. Super Duper Tuesday comes and goes and then a couple dozen more contests. No endorsement. And now, after Obama's been beaten bloody for three-and-a-half months on his way to the nomination, Edwards hops aboard.
I liked the good things he had to say about Hillary. That was great stuff, imho.
I also admire how he let the fight unfold on its own between Clinton and Obama without getting in the middle of it until it was pretty much a done deal on its own.
Really, really seeing him as a super choice for AG if Obama wins in the General.
I actually like everything he said. I wish he had kept on giving his speeches all through February and March. When Obama was getting stung but no one really defected to Hillary, Edwards' 15-20% of the vote could have turned into a few wins here and there. It was never clear that voters wanted a two-person race. The media wanted a two-person race.
I don't see what the point of the timing is now. Ok...I do...obviously if the #3 guy who was ambivalent about supporting either #1 or #2 is now saying "it's over", that helps the momentum towards ending this.
I wish we knew how Edwards would've done if he'd stayed in for awhile longer.
Since 1949, Durhamites have slept soundly, secure in the knowledge that, in our town, erection can be depended upon. Now, thanks to the power of the internets, we can spread that security all over the world.
