Going to the dogs

It's a quarter to five on Sunday afternoon. Durham county is under a severe thunderstorm warning. There's major wind and thunder and lightning around my house.

So why am i listening to the dogs barking at the fucking assholes' houses that i call neighbors on Avondale Drive? Bad enough you leave your dogs without food and water during the day. But making them hang out without shelter during a storm like this?

Fuck you.

  • I got fed up with the dog in back of my house barking at all hours over the weekend and finally sent a missive to Cindy B. that had been in draft mode since the deep freeze in January. I don't know what good it will do, but I figured the complaint ought to be on record.

Man, that chained-dog discussion at the Dem Conv really pissed me off, ..."dog's aggressive so ya gotta chain him up!" Yeah, you love your dogs that you've had your whole life...fuck you... (hope you don't mind that I've piled my sentiments on top of yours)

  • i didn't stay at the convention long enough for that discussion.

don't forget, barking dogs are no longer considered "nuisance animals." It is now considered a violation of the noise ordinance, and is supposed to be enforced by the DPD. Good luck with that.

btw - last i talked to AC, Cindy Bailey was still on medical leave.

  • Yeah, we actually had a debate on a resolution about tethering dogs, and it was heated. It was tabled to exec.

I know the noise is the domain of the DPD, and I know they'll do jack and shit about that that, since I'm groggily called the non-emergency number at 4AM a few times to mention the barking dog.

I'm hoping that AC can get the owners on a technicality, like the ordinance that says a dog needs a 10x10 space. (Yeah, I know, good luck on that one, too). I'd have bypassed AC and tried to get this on the Coalition-to-Unchain's list, but given the high quality of the 8x8 pen and the seldom-visiting actual owner's late-model Mercedes (son/grandson of home's residents), I don't think inability to afford a fence in their reason for keeping the dog in a pen. They just don't give a shit.
