This is awesome
If you're a baseball geek. I've mentioned before that i went to the first game at Shea Stadium, April 17, 1964. Which happened to be 44 years ago yesterday.
This is the most complete box score i've ever seen. Two things stand out for me. First, this was only the 3rd game of the season. Because teams played many more Sunday doubleheaders, and the only post-season games were the World Series, you didn't need to start the regular season in March to finish in mid-October*. And second, both teams combined only used 3 pitchers.
And i still don't think i've ever seen a ball hit harder than Willie Stargell's leadoff home run in the 2nd inning.

nice find with that box score. jeffrey dean foster told me last night over dinner (before our broad st. gig) that when he was recording in nyc with steve jordan (x-pensive winos, neil young, chuck berry's hail hail rock and roll film, he was invited to see the stones at shea stadium. i've yet to go. maybe one day.
longest home run i've ever seen in person was last saturday at the durham bulls game. two actually. one went over the new bull in left field. the other hit the new condo building on the fly. the longest mlb home run i've ever seen was in '01 at yankee stadium. chris richard (current durham bull, by the way) hit one for the orioles that went over my head in the right field bleachers and landed in the upper deck above us.
