Benazir Bhutto 2007 = Robert Kennedy 1968 ?

Outside of condolences to her family, who seem to have lost quite a few members to political assassination over the years, i don't really have any insight into, or comments about, today's events in Pakistan. But if the impact on that nation of the assassination shortly before an election of a leading candidate is anything like what happened in the US in the months following Bobby Kennedy's assassination in June 1968, things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.

Mrs D. pointed out in conversation this evening that the Muslim world can ill afford to lose prominent women who are not afraid to be public about their views. Sounds right to me.

  • I wouldn't limit that to just the Muslim world, either.

  • If anyone is interested in the story behind the story perhaps thay should check out the DVD available at the Durham County Library about 911.I think the title is 911 The Untold Story. It is the story of the investigation done by three women whose husbands died in the World Trade Center.
