Abomination!

On the off chance that you get your dose of liberalism here, and not from one of the big boys and girls, you really should know about this.

Not that you have to watch it or anything, but you should be aware of its existence, in that kind of mad aunt in the attic way.

  • Thank you. Now I feel both stupid and dirty. Odd thing is, my GOP friends often point out(sometimes rightly so) what a bad sense of humor liberals tend to have. It seems perhaps we don't have a monopoly on unfunniness after all.

What gets me is, both sides of the political fence open themselves up to plenty of ridicule. There's just no excuse for coming up with crap like that.

  • Liberals have no sense of humor?

i don't even know where to begin with that one. Maybe here?

  • On what planet are conservatives perceived as having a bigger sense of humor than liberals?

You have got to be kidding me!

That just proves my theory that most Republicans are downright delusional. Their idea of wit? Naked pictures of Hillary Clinton with a penis. Oh, yes, they are SO funny...

  • This Team Red/Team Blue shit descended into self-parody a long time ago.

  • Brian: No shit. ;)

  • I believe the no sense of humor part has to do with an inability to laugh at ourselves. From personal experience, I have typically found my right leaning friends to be better sports when they're the brunt of a joke than, say, my sister or other very passionate liberals.

Perhaps it's the sense of urgency that we tend to have. Anyone poking fun at what appears to be the only solution for saving ourselves from war and an dead planet is obviously standing in the way of progress. Thus, a joke begins an argument.

Obviously, we have pretty much all the comedians on our side of the fence and they have, well... Ann Coulter so there's a fine argument for the left.

None the less, on a personal level, and at least in regard to not getting bent out of shape brand of having a sense of humor, I do think the right has a point.

  • We know very different people then, you and i.

  • I must disagree with the anonymous before me: I have far and away found that my liberal friends have much, much more of an ability to laugh at themselves than my rightwing, conservative relatives and the handful of friends I have who are republicans and, yes, even three friends I'd count as definitely rightwing. I love them, of course, but an ability to laugh at themselves? I don't think so. And from what I have seen: liberal comedians spend just as much time making fun of the left as they do the right. It just depends on who is in power at the moment.

  • Barry,

I found the Firesign Theater scarier than the "Horrendous Republican Singers."

  • But wait, Steve -- didn't Firesign do that unbelievably hilarious parody of Jacques Cousteau narrating traffic on the Los Angeles Freeway:

< assume heavy French accent >

"The little Beetle darts in and out of the larger cars seeking a corner where he feels safe..."

For that alone, well, I forgive them all else.
