Chase scene

Some folks on my neighborhood listserv witnessed what appeared to be a high speed chase through a school zone yesterday afternoon. At least one person is adamant that the pursuing vehicle was a Durham PD cruiser. DPD says they weren't involved, their guidelines prohibit chases through school zones, it was probably one of the other law enforcement agencies operating in town.

Anybody else see this? Mid-afternoon pickup time at Club Blvd. school?

  • Hey Barry, I dunno about a chase, but per my housemate, there was a serious accident at the corner of Roxboro & Lavender at about that time, with one car reportedly flipped completely upside down and another damaged enough to have to be removed by truck. I didn't see it on the news, so YMMV, but I can certainly imagine police vehicles hurrying to such an event. They still shouldn't be speeding in a school zone, though.

  • We've got that accounted for. This happened at a similar time, and not far away.

Two people have confirmed the chase down Club Blvd. on the Duke Park list, and it was reported to 911 as a separate incident from the accident on Roxboro by at least one other person who is still unidentified, at least by me. One of the eyewitnesses swears the chase car was a marked DPD cruiser. DPD has investigated and says none of their vehicles was involved.
