So, i've just learned that Durham, one of the ten most desirable places to live in the US, has no money in its 2010 budget for street lights. That's zero.

Apparently, if you whine loud enough and to the right people, a request for a streetlight can be considered on an individual basis. Not sure where the funding will come from.
don't get me started on either Ned Kennington or street lights in the Watts-Hillandale neighborhood.
Or anything else that the city spends money on in Watts-Hillandale that other neighborhoods have to do without.
