Thanks, Barry. Every now and then I have something about Durham too. But most of what I remember is gone. Similar stuff is always springing up, though. Joe and Jo's seemed like a good facsimile of the old Val's upstairs, and maybe you guys have even found a replacement for them.
It's fitting they located the James Joyce in Durham, because something he said about Ireland fits Durham to a T: "She's the sow who eats her own farrow."
But as pigs go, she's alright.

I spent most of the evening at Bull McCabes, which is in the old Joe and Jo's, watching NY Red Bulls v FCBarcelona. It's not J&J's, but Malachy runs a pretty nice bar. Try the gazpacho.
