  • You have to wonder about the 3-7% of respondents who had no definitive opinion on how Bush is doing... I'm sure the 21/22% who approve are die-hard GOPers, with fingers in their ears and eyes tightly shut, but how can someone not have an opinion in this day and age? (Unless you're Johanna Goldsmith; I'd post a damning YouTube interview, but it's been TOS'd.)

  • What's the approval rating for the Dem Congress? Something like 9% last I heard.

Congressional Approval Falls to Single Digits for First Time Ever

    Tuesday, July 08, 2008

The percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category.

It'll take two years of the Dems in control of Congress and the Presidency to produce any kind of swing. Then it will be 1994 all over again as the "electorate has a WTF were we thinking?" moment.

  • @anonymous:

You'd think people would learn about cherry-picking data...

Rasmussen's Congressional Job Approval polling data is not only old, it's a statistical outlier, potentially because they restrict it to "likely voters":

  • Didn't like that first wager? Here's another offer.

Democrats will have a larger majority in the House and Senate after the 2010 midterms than they do today.

Put your money where your mouth is.

  • What is this a barroom?

First tell me how many incumbent Dems are up for re-election this year as compared to the number of incumbent Reps.

Pick whatever poll you like. As long as their polling methods are consistent from poll to poll then Congress is at a new all-time low in almost every poll. Are you arguing that the RCP average of 17% is significantly better than 9%? And something of which Congress can be proud? For the mathematically challenged out there 17% < 21%.

  • Barry, your idiots are a little on the crispy side today. Might want to turn down the temp on the grease...

If you look at any of these polls and unpack them, you'll find that a pretty major component of disillusion with congress, particularly with Democrats, is failure to end the war in Iraq. I'm not sure how that helps the Republicans much.

  • So tell me again how anyone can be "undecided" in this year's election?

    'cos they'll be there. Again.
