What the hell is blooming this week? My allergies haven't been this bad since i moved out of New York in the mid-80s.

  • I'm also originally from NY and I haven't had allergies this bad since I was 12 or 13 and lived across the street from a park rife with ragweed.

My eyes have been burning something fierce in the morning and my nose runs on and off all day. Allegra helps, but damn...

  • I have no idea what it is, but my eyes haven't been right in a month. And I have a 'scrip for uber-powerful allergy eyedrops.

  • There may well be stuff out there blooming that hasn't had a decent chance to do so for a couple years. But my guess, given the amount of rain we've had lately, is some kind of mold. I'm only allergic to one type of mold, but yesterday I felt a symptom for it that I haven't felt since I can't tell you when.

Maybe it's just a return to normal: this part of NC is normally one of the worst places in the country for airborne allergies, according to my doctor (among other people).

  • It's the stinky white bushes that are getting to me this week. I just discovered we have a GIANT one in our yard. It didn't blossom the last couple years, so we had no idea it was stinky white bush... teeny white flowers in bunches. Maybe that is it.

  • Thanks for posting this. I've been sniffling this week and was wondering why. My allergy seasons used to be a continuous block in May, but now it seems like I get a couple of weeks in April, then a few weeks of reprieve, and now a bit of sniffling again. I hope yours and ours all pass soon.
