And that's just the officially budgeted supplemental spending numbers, which does not account for non-attrition equipment losses, higher than predicted depot-level maintenance and spares needs, higher than average retention pay bonuses, the cost of replacing field and company level officers and senior NCOs and the medical support for thousands of physically and mentally wounded veterans who are unable to return to front-line duty.
And before any of the idealogue anons pop in here to sling FUD, I've seen enough worn-out equipment, empty depot shelves, one-limbed USMCR EOD techs and 20 year-olds with TBIs, first-hand, to know what I'm talking about.
Oh, and I've sat-in on a number of classified USSOCOM and USASOC budget briefings to know that they're not included in the Supplementals, either, but they're spending, almost exclusively, on current mission needs.
