I normally pull for the underdog but in this situation I was hoping for New England. I am not a sports person and it seems every team that I care to place a little support for in the super Bowl, I hope I do not get sued for saying Super Bowl, loses.
I never thought I'd like watching football. And in a year that I randomly start liking it, I start liking the Giants, for various reasons. And after they beat Green Bay I was happy enough, quite realistically convinced that there would be no way for them to beat the Patriots. And as I watched, I realized I didn't have the grace of a well-watched football fan. Every turnover, sack, down, was like a roller coaster! And hot damn, they freaking won. Pretty nuts. Let's hope another New York team can pull it off this year with the newly signed Santana. What do you think about that? :)
Of course, now I have two band-aids on my hand where, on Burress's touchdown, I jumped up from the bar at the Carolina Brewery, thrust my fists in the air, and promptly punched out one of the lights.
If you'd told me a year ago I'd ever pull that hard for a Tom Coughlin team, I'd say you were nuts. Week 17 changed that.
That was probably the most exciting SB I've watched since I was a teenager. I didn't have a horse in this race, but I was glad to see the underdog win.
Since 1949, Durhamites have slept soundly, secure in the knowledge that, in our town, erection can be depended upon. Now, thanks to the power of the internets, we can spread that security all over the world.
