I've been too caught up in following any number of things, including this Liverpool sale, to notice, to my horror earlier today, that Russ Feingold is losing his reelection bid in Wisconsin.
The current owners[, who bought the team by heavily leveraging other assets, threw away hundreds of millions on flashy players without tending to the core needs of the club, paraded themselves around like big-time players, took massive gambles on shady equities to cover losses, and ultimately proved themselves not up to the task of owning a 1-A team, much less three top-tier sports franchises,] called the Liverpool-Red Sox deal an "epic swindle." [Reporters who noted this comment widely interpreted this to mean that NESV had ruined their attempt at an epic swindle.]
Since 1949, Durhamites have slept soundly, secure in the knowledge that, in our town, erection can be depended upon. Now, thanks to the power of the internets, we can spread that security all over the world.
