Triangle D?
From the comments:
Anybody know anything about this? Triangle D occupies some prime real estate in the OND/DCP corridor, and turning that location into something other than a quickie mart has probably been on someone's radar for quite some time, no?
The mystery of Triangle D's $1.55 is solved.
The owner lost his lease and needs to clear his inventory this week.
Everything in the store must go! Stock up on Tom's peanuts and Little Debbie snacks by buying two for one! Six packs of beer: $4.99!
The gas is gone, though.

Good riddance. I could use a decent quickie mart between work and home, but that place ain't it. Lousy inventory and the place stank, too.

A loud HUZZAH! From here.
We lived in OND from August 1996 to December 2000 and became very involved with the neighborhood association there.
Triangle D was an eyesore and a gathering point for trouble makers. One of our biggest successes was removing the pay phone from that corner so that dealers couldn't conduct business.
I've noticed other improvements to Trinity Ave over the years. Now we need to have the old apartments razed and single family homes put up in their place.

ah geez. it may not be gorgeous, but it served its purpose to an even selection of nearby residents. Sometimes one just needed a spot on the corner to pick up beer , or miscellaneous. it was accessible to all people.

I wouldn't have a problem with Triangle D continuing business, but only if they changed their product mix. First of al, get rid of all of the fortified wine - no more Wild Irish Rose and Old Thunderbird! No more 40oz beers either. I'm tired of picking up all of those bottles thrown from cars and dropped by drunkards traveling through our neighborhood.
In their place, how about offering some fresh produce? And some other more "exotic" staples like, oh, sour creme that I find I need as I'm half-way through a recipe and in desperate need of.

I can't believe there was so much mystery about this -- a closure has been in the works for some time. Didn't anyone check the tax rolls, or ask Michael Bacon / one of the DCM directors?
The property is owned by my ex-wife's father, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out this location is slated for something more upscale.
