Had dinner last night with a few friends and fellow bloggers, and at some point one of us (not me) made a reference to threadfall, from Dragonriders of Pern, the science fantasy series by Anne McCaffery.

The sad thing is, all of us got it.

  • I'd say that you should consider getting new friends. Except that dragonriders don't need friends. They have dragons. And work to do.

BTW, I just discovered that I can play an OK version of Missle Command online for free. Yay for Java. The game website I visited says, "if you grew up in the 80s, you shouldn't need instructions."

  • Why on earth would that be sad???

  • I'd like to think that it's better to get a reference to a series of books I read 20 years ago than not get a reference to a television show that I didn't watch last night. Yet, by most standards, the former means you're nerdy and the latter means you're out of touch.
