Best entertainment value

For my money, it's the Trinity Park listserv.

Just sayin'.

  • Why don't you post a link and a login?

Some of us would like to see the archives from about two years ago.

  • Why don't you ask the moderator to subscribe you?

    subscribe-trinitypark@yahoogroups.com

That's the proper etiquette for a subscription only list.

  • I was waiting for Barry to post regarding this. I agree that the comment made by the original poster was a tad over the edge but where were these sensitive diversity freaks during the LAX fiasco. Oh that's right they were out there banging cooking instruments. I guess it is not diversity and racist unless it is a minority.

Hypocrites is about as best I can sum it up. Thanks to Jon Ham for pointing this out. There is at least one non sexist racist individual in TP.

The greatest outcome to this little peep into the hypocrites of TP is seeing the love &&&%%%##, the name shall not be mentioned even though she posted a link to your website on the TP list server, has fostered in her neighborhood. I am glad to see that my household is not the only sane home unit in TP thinking this lady has issues.

  • My address is not in Trinity Park and my subscription request would be refused.

    But you knew that.

  • My address is not in Trinity Park, and my request was approved.

Maybe the "non sexist racist" Jon Ham will share his log in with you?

    I will say this.

I have much more respect for the initial poster, who has attempted to apologize several times for his remarks, than for any of the people who have rushed to defend them.

There is simply no other way to put it. They were offensive and racist. I can't comment on whether they accurately reflect on the individual who made them; i assume they don't and that he's a genuinely nice guy. But that doesn't mean genuinely nice people don't make some offensive comments from time to time.

I've had to moderate similar situations on my listserv, and believe me, it's no fun. The best you can hope for is people learn from their mistakes.

I can see how someone who thinks Michael Savage is a savvy commenter on contemporary issues would think that pointing out the racism inherent in the original comments would be a hypocrite. That doesn't make it so.

  • Why don't you publish the remarks and let us judge for ourselves. You, at a minimum, are offensive about three times a day - that I know of. You are in waaaay no position to get offended over anything.

For example, in your own New Years Greeting, "Fuck you you fucking fuck."

By Blogger Locomotive Breath, at 2:10 PM

  • Fuck you, you fucking fuck.

    Offended?

Then get the fuck out of here. Nobody forces you to come here and read my stuff.

Ask your fucking friends to send you the fucking emails from the fucking Trinity Park list serv.

Hell, they're probably already discussing them up at KC's place or at Free Fucking Republic.

Defending the fucking oppressed "white mails" from another fucking assault of fucking politically correct diversity freaks. That's the only fucking thing that seems to fucking matter to you and your fucking friends, isn't it?

    Well, fuck you.

  • As a Trinity Park listserv subscriber, I would agree about the entertainment value. There hadn't been a good knock-down, drag-out on the list for a while, and all those "Lost Dog" and "Anyone know a good plumber?" posts were getting pretty boring.

By Blogger Matt, at 2:21 PM

  • Like I said. As offensive as you are (never mind inarticulate), you've got no business calling other people names. But I do like seeing the steam come out of your ears. You have your entertaining places and I have mine.

By Blogger Locomotive Breath, at 2:37 PM

  • Guys and gals, let's take this over to Bull City Rising where it belongs.

    (ducks)

By Blogger hovercraft, at 2:44 PM

  • Just for the record, Barry, it only took a few hours on the TP List-serv for someone to run afoul of the "Dur'm corollary to Godwin's law" as regards the recent unpleasantness. I nearly posted "You lose!" but resisted at the last minute.

By Blogger Durham Bull Pen, at 2:49 PM

  • No, let's don't. Kevin runs a classy joint with standards.

Not like this dump, where i let almost anyone in.

By Blogger Barry, at 2:50 PM

  • Greetings from &&&%%%##!

    Damn I'm fabulous ;-)

Muuah, love and kisses to all!

  • Ms. P., welcome to the dark side: we have cookies. :)

  • lately, barry, your comment sections have been the most entertaining thing i can find online.

    i'm impressed.

  • My personal favorite wasn't the racism flamewar, but instead the discovery of a noose in a tree that turned out to just be a piece of rope...quite entertaining, imo.

By Blogger drcforbin, at 9:24 PM

  • I'd have to say my favorite annual skirmish on the TP List-serve is "The Durham Blues Festival Was Way Too Loud This Year" flamefest. That yields predictable, but delicious and ultra-heated, responses on both sides of the issue each and every year.

By Blogger Durham Bull Pen, at 10:54 PM

  • I forgot about that one! It's an annual tradition!

By Blogger drcforbin, at 11:17 PM

  • It's getting to be waaaay too predictable over there in lalalacrosspeopleland. You can just about predict at what point something will start to die down, then hambonehead posts some turd of a comment, then the dude who should be quiet posts some drivel, then some other sycophant whines, then the calls for Daddy to come make &&&%%%## stop jumping on the bed begin. Snore.

It's MUCH more fun over here where some idiot whines because Barry says the F word!!! On his own blog! OOOOH a BAD word! Call the law law law!

By Blogger Ellen, at 11:59 PM

  • Your amusement is my sole purpose in writing this blog.

Do you know the New York City alphabet?

    fuckin' A.

    fuckin' B.

    fuckin' C.

thanks, i'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip the waitstaff.

    Bzzzzt! Wrong.

I remarked that Barry has no business getting offended at other people's offensive behavior. But thanks for playing.

By Blogger Locomotive Breath, at 5:46 AM

  • Yea I was hoping someone would find the humor in the noose that was just a piece of rope hanging from the tree. Man I wish we could get those Jena 6 marchers here misrepresenting all the facts. Oh we have had that, the LAX mob.

Of all the comments in the diversity racist mud slinging Jon Ham was the most insightful. Sometimes people would take the diversity police more serious if they were not such hypocrites.

And I am not sure if the defending of the racist comments was so much a defense of the comments but a chance to slam Lisa B. She deserves it to some extent with her past open hatred for a completely nice man named Steve Ortmann.

I was a bit surprised at the defense of the insensitive comments knowing the mindset of most people in TP.

And Loco Breath I am not aware that you have to live in TP to be on the list server. However, if you do not post along the group think line you will be questioned about why are you here if you do not live in TP. This was a big part of the defense of the party line during the LAX hayday.
