Bloggering

So it's too cold outside to do anything else but tend the fire, make some soup and some wings and get ready for some football. We probably listened to Al DeRogatis call the 1962 Giants-Packers championship game on WNEW radio, as it was blacked out in the NY area. So i'm looking forward to watching this rematch tonight in a warm house.

Go Giants!

The other thing i've been doing is trying to figure out how to make jump pages for the blog. I'm about 85% there. What i haven't figured out is how to make the link to the jump page disappear when all of the content of the post is on the front page. Right now, it looks like every post will have a "continue reading this post" link at the bottom, regardless. If anyone can point me to a solution, i'd be grateful. I'd also like to figure out how to get the jump page link above the tags, rather than after the tags.

  • I'm right there with ya, Barry -- except, instead of waiting for the Packers/Giants, we're glued to the TV set here in Chez BCR, watching the Pats play the Bolts.

Evil N.E. fan that I am, I was thrilled by Junior Seau's idea for sacking Rivers. Jump on the guy and make him carry your weight... the perfect plan for going after somebody with a bad knee. Eeeee-xcellent.

Too bad it hasn't worked so far.

  • Well, it's the 2:00 minute warning. Whew. And I was about to start asking if Drew Bledsoe was still available to come off the bench.

  • Damnit, if the godamned beanheads get all three major titles this year, I think I may actually force myself to vomit in a sign of tribute.

Maybe the upside to global warming is that it might put Boston underwater. We can hope.

If only their sports teams still performed as badly as their presidential candidates. [sigh]

  • You know, the Packers had Bart Starr as their honorary captain.

    Just sayin'.

  • Try this for the blogger equivalent to an lj-cut:

  • thanks - that's the code i'm using.

i'm running into two issues that i don't like and haven't been able to fix.

first - it puts the "Continue reading . . " link at the bottom of each post, whether or not there's anything else to continue reading. Second, it puts the link below the various tags for the post, so it's easy to miss when there is a jump page to go to. i suppose there's some more dicking around i could try with the CSS, but the next time i might get four uninterupted hours could be weeks from now.
