I thought not. Just business as usual for the Bull City, especially if you're observing from, say, Wake County.

Since 1949, Durhamites have slept soundly, secure in the knowledge that, in our town, erection can be depended upon. Now, thanks to the power of the internets, we can spread that security all over the world.

They save the cheery stuff for the print-only Durham News, which, I'm happy to report, did not litter my street this past weekend. If they only skipped this weekend because of the rain, then it would seem they don't need the thousands of plastic bags they've been protecting the fish-wrap with during the past year.

Good Lord, even the non-observant me was shocked by the lineup. Six crime/accident postings. Zombie lurch (great story, though the topic's kind of dead). Problems with watering. Durham business story (though sad). Gov't problem, crime, gov't problem. New principal (note label: "school improvement specialist"). Three more crimes. Two more gov't problems.
