Didn't see that coming

The devices didn't prompt calls of concern in any of the nine other cities where Turner said the devices were placed. Police in the other cities fanned out to find and remove them after Boston's scare.

Some enterprising people got to the devices before police: At least seven were for sale Thursday afternoon on the Internet auction site eBay, ranging in price from $500 to $2,100.

  • Ouch! Even if I were in Boston and not 1300 miles away, I couldn't spot a trend if one bit me.
Now I suppose all the others around the country'll be stolen and touted on eBay as the 0-riginal Boston ones, youbetcha. Shit, there aren't ANY in Melbourne.

What WAS cool was the installation method, which looked like MAGNETS!
Were they all installed on metal? Was chewing gum involved for non-metal surfaces?

The two goofy installers were an excellent treat, especially the wiseass longestdredboy!

But maybe the benefit will come via a creeping realization of how stupid and scared and weak we look every time we hear a "boo!" I mean what if EVERYBODY refused to take of their shoes at the airport? The Shoe Law would be on life support in a NY minute.

Nice place you have here, b.

  • Boston is still smarting from the "awesome" security at the airport on the morning of September 11, 2001.

BTW, who fanned the flames of this story? CNN. Owned by the same media company that owns The Cartoon Channel. Now everyone knows about Aqua Teen Hunger Force, don't they?

And can you believe that NO ONE on the Boston PD had a teenager at home to explain the devices? Talk about a "bubble"!

On the other hand, heads rolled. Cartoon's general manager resigned the other day. I can guess why. It's very important for cable companies to be very nice to a city like Boston for when those franchise contracts come up for renewal down the road. Don't want to make the city fathers look bad or..."stupid" do we?

I just love living in a corporate state, don't you?
