And whose brilliant idea was it to have the sports mascots arrive in a stretch Hummer? 'Cause nothing says "Durham" like a stretch Hummer, i'll tell you.

Great pictures! I especially love the next to last picture showing the light beam and a corner of the DPAC. The light beam from the Plensa is actually not very bright at all. I like it.

Visualize getting those big ol' mascot costumes in a Toyota Corolla.

They were funny enough stumbling out of the Hummer.
Given that there are 3500 covered parking spaces (spread out over what, 6 parking decks) within a stone's throw of the entrance, it would have been just as impressive to have had a parade of mascots to the front plaza.
and what's up with no surface street parking on Dillard? If you can have parking there for ballpark events, why not for theater events? Why not all the time? The street's certainly wide enough?
Not all of us feel, you know, comfortable, in parking decks these days.

I'm not sure I am going to be a fan of that light. It's like a night light with no bat signal that shines through the trees into our hood.
From our front porch it looks like someone forgot to turn off the lights at the car dealership.

My understanding is it will only be illuminated during show nights.
I could see it from my house a mile and a half north of downtown last night, but it didn't seem to obscure my view of the moon and the planets.

Woah, is the DPAC lighting really as, er, fluorescent pink as it appears there? Kinda reminds of watching Miami Vice.

Jeremy - no, the building is more of an off-white. There was a bank of gels projecting a "mandala of ever-changing hues" onto the building from the roadside.
