Driving home last night i noticed the BP stations on Guess Rd. had dropped the price of gasoline to $3.39, and i thought, wow, that's getting pretty cheap.
Then i thought about it some more and realized, not so much.
Then, i reconsidered.

I paid $3.29, I think, last night at Triangle on Roxboro. Oil had actually dropped to $70-something a barrel, although now it's back up above $80. But the $70-something price meant oil was close to half what it was several months ago. I assume some of the price drop is from unrefined oil backed up from temporary loss of refining capacity from the hurricanes we had.
It's pretty weird. For a few weeks now it seems, I've been driving by stations in Chapel Hill that just didn't have any gas. None. Now they have it and the price is dropping like a stone. It's about damn time.

Yup...the Triangle on Roxboro dropped to 3.69 last week ahead of everyone else, and it at 3.29 as of this morning. (This was after having had no gas for nearly two weeks.) I guess they got a cheaper delivery ahead of everyone else, so hopefully ~3.30 (or lower) will be closer to the market average everywhere in the next week or so.
I saw $2.95 in Boston this weekend and nearly shit myself.
