Dear Barry,

The North Carolina GOP is running an ad that is drawing stiff criticism from all fronts, even from Republicans. Problem is, there isn't a Republican who's willing to step in and stop them from running the ad, despite how easy it would be.

NC Democratic Party Chair Jerry Meek sent a letter to Elizabeth Dole, the most senior member of the NC GOP, saying, "without a doubt, you could halt this ad with a simple telephone call."

Since we know we shouldn't expect much from Republicans - especially Liddy who is hardly ever in North Carolina anymore - we've decided to step up and help Liddy do the right thing, and have drafted a letter for her to sign to the Chairwoman of the North Carolina GOP.

Ask Liddy Dole to sign the letter:


Dear Chairwoman Linda Daves,

I disapprove of the content of the North Carolina Republican Party's recent advertisement "Extreme". I feel that it resorts to a type of negative politicking that betrays the best interest of North Carolinians.

I call on you, as Chairwoman of the North Carolina Republican Party, to immediately stop airing this advertisement. Failure to do so will reflect negatively on all North Carolina Republicans, and would necessitate that I return the Party's contributions to my campaign to disassociate myself from the vitriol which you appear to embrace.

We're working with a team of North Carolina bloggers including Pam Spaulding and the BlueNC crew to deliver this petition to Dole's office tomorrow. So sign now, and let your local friends know about this important chance to get Sen. Dole to actually do something about a North Carolina issue for once.
