From all the hype, you'd think Iowa -- the most populous, balanced and representative state in the Union -- was conducting a free and fair, one voter-one vote, representative primary.
BTW, the New Hampshire primaries are next Tuesday! That will quickly be followed by Michigan, Nevada, South Carolina, and Florida, all before January ends! It's a crazy schedule.
Oh, there's beer in Iowa, my friend, trust me on that. In fact, moving to NC, the near-utter lack of "old man bars" was perhaps the biggest culture shock (okay, actually it was teh Jesus).
If any of the truly geeky folks on here watched C-SPAN last night, you got to see (on the Democratic side at least) what a completely unorganized show of democracy in action is like. Messy, yes, strange, yes, but also pretty interesting and cool.
The most interesting thing on the Republican side from the precinct C-SPAN was covering was a little girl with a really deep voice singing that "Proud to be an American Cause at least I Know I'm Free" song. Otherwise, not so much.
Since 1949, Durhamites have slept soundly, secure in the knowledge that, in our town, erection can be depended upon. Now, thanks to the power of the internets, we can spread that security all over the world.

Because there's no beer in Iowa?

Iowa is like a badly produced pre-game show.

Oh, don't be silly. You know the Caucasus is in Asia, between the Black and Caspian seas. It's nowhere near Iowa.
