Why we love Durham, part 6
From the Partners Against Crime, district 2 (PAC2) email list:
The Durham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in apprehending who ever is stealing storm drain grates and sewer manhole covers. The suspect(s) are driving up to the covers and most likely taking them to undisclosed destinations to sell for scrap metal. Anyone who sees a vehicle or persons in the area of covers acting suspicious, or actually removing the lids, please try to get a license plate number and call 911 immediately. Your assistance in this matter is appreciated as always.

Yeah, but are the Chicago police posting to a neighborhood listserv asking for "the public’s assistance in apprehending who ever is stealing storm drain grates and sewer manhole covers.?"
do they believe that "The suspect(s) are driving up to the covers and most likely taking them to undisclosed destinations to sell for scrap metal.?"
That's what i love about Durham.
